Our Story

We build decks that families actually use — for years to come

Hi, I'm Adil — I've always been the guy who figures it out.

The one who stayed behind after everyone else gave up. The one who saw the problem differently. That instinct is what built Kingpost, and it's what shows up on every job site.

As a kid, I was always taking things apart to see how they worked, and more often than not, putting them back together better than before. While other people saw obstacles, I saw puzzles. That's never left me. It just found a home in building custom outdoor spaces.

When I started Kingpost, I'd already spent years in the trades, and I noticed that the jobs other builders passed on, or the sites that "couldn't be done the way the client wanted," were actually my favourite kind. Uneven lots. Tight urban yards. Awkward rooflines. Those are the projects I get excited about.

That problem-solving mindset runs through everything we do, from how we design around a tree that has to stay, to how we sequence a build so your backyard isn't a construction site for longer than it needs to be. The details that most people never notice are exactly the ones I think about most.

When I started Kingpost in 2018, I wasn't just starting a business. I was committing to doing this the way I believed it should be done, taking real pride in my work, measuring twice, never rushing a joint, always staying until the job looked right.

Today, I show up to every site, run my hand along every railing before I call a job done. Whether it's a compact urban deck in Leslieville or a multi-level entertaining space in Scarborough, to building a robust, sturdy privacy fence in Oakville, the standard is the same. Kingpost Decks & Outdoor was built on a simple belief: that the quality of the work should speak for itself. Every project we take on gets our full attention, from the first site visit to the final coat of stain.

What I love most is the moment a client sees the finished space for the first time, that pause before they say anything. That's what I'm building toward on every project.

Outdoor living is personal. It's where your family gathers, where summer happens, where your home earns its character. We take that seriously. We think carefully about how a space will actually be lived in, and we build it to hold up beautifully for years.

Decks and outdoor spaces are all we do, and we've put years of focused experience into doing them exceptionally well. That depth shows in the details: the way a railing sits, the smoothness of a deck surface, the confidence of a structure built to last Toronto winters and summers alike.

We work with homeowners across Toronto and the GTA — and every project starts with a real conversation about what you actually want.

I walk every site before quoting — so there are no surprises for either of us once work starts.

I use materials I'd put on my own home — and I'll tell you honestly when a more affordable option will perform just as well.

If there's a smarter way to build something, I'll find it — and I'll explain it to you plainly so you can decide for yourself.

I don't walk away from a tricky problem — that's usually where the most satisfying work happens.
